OIC Portrait Day at June 2010

This is the 2nd times I using my water colour this year. The first time was at the Portrait Day at March. After the March portrait day I went to buy a brown ink pen until June I finally got a chance to use it. haha~

Now a days I usually do digital drawing as clients often require a digital files and many changes as many of you knew it. When too use to the Undo function, I’m scared of drawing on a paper with ink but I used to draw with ballpoint pen many years ago.

So that’s the reason of joining the portrait day is to force myself drawing on paper and draw in a limited time. This remind me when I was still in high school, we used to do sketching on the street, rushing home work like water colour painting or oil painting etc. It require very sharp observation and also good skill.

Too much rubbish~ here are the only 2 sketches that I managed to shoot on that day.

The little man above was hard to draw~ I’ve tried 2 times but failed end up I change my position and do a quite sketch of him, a bit rough but I quite like it.

This one was the very last drawing on that day, probably because of I’ve done so many sketches, my hands are warmed up, lines are fine, water colour also in control.

Eye

While all the adults pitying and worrying the future of the one eye kid.
We seems forgotten that the kid is enjoying a different colourful dream with his blind eye.
No matter good or bad dreams life will still go on.

STB F1 Poster Visual

A B/W visual I did some times back, it’s a F1 car just passed through the Anderson bridge.
Now the final poster can be seen at Orchard Road and it looks very close to the visual

Good girl don’t bite colour version

Outline have been done for quite sometimes ago, finally did the colouring at last Friday.

Flying Machine

This is a flying machine I did today while waiting to some jobs. Exact time not sure but won’t be too long.

The idea is to create some low tech look but high tech vehicle. Inspire but antique airplanes and cars.

Soloist sketch 02

Another drawing of the Soloist series. Same as the first soloist I posted it’s drew in blue ball point pen and adjusted to brown on Muji recycle paper.

This is a coloured version I did in PS. Initially the colour is more saturated, but some friends advised that less saturate will look nicer, so here is the result.

I’m Wei Loon, currently a freelance visualizer. I’ve seen some of you guys at MAAD several times, well~ nice to meet you guys.

I like to draw something that’s more fantasy and fairy tales like, I’m also good at creating cute cartoon characters.

Beside dragon ball the first manga I read that inspired me a lot, Hayao Miyazaki is also another artist who I love. Recently I was thinking to explore more other styles to find one that really suits me. Probably I’ve been doing too many storyboads and follow other artist’s style, that makes me feel lost.
