Quick Sketches By Fleecircus

It’s pretty normal that illustrator work late into the night to meet some urgent deadlines. I had lots of late nights last minute amendments on different projects lately. Even when i’m stuck with one project, i found i become more productive while waiting for large files to load/save. Here are some of the quick sketches i did. These are done rather quickly, taking faces from magazines, books for references. Practices like this helped me to stay focused, not to mention staying awake effectively!
It would be interesting to find out what are our fellow members do to stay sharp for late night deadline. :)

纸上谈兵 (mere paper talk) for art of rebellion “workflow”

This print was made in reference to a character in Stanley Kubrick’s “Full Metal Jacket”.

It is a vietnam war film featuring a group of marines life during that period.
Private Joker was the protagonist, always boasting about being a killing machine, teaching others how to get hookers,
when he never had any actual experience – he was merely a war journalist soldier.

I thought he fit the description of 纸上谈兵 (mere paper talk) pretty well, and decided to do a paperdoll painting showing his various facial expressions,
quotable quotes, and ironic personality.

i painted the characters and body parts separately, then scanned and combined them on the computer.

This art work is part of the “The Art of Rebellion: 造反有理 “ exhibiton organised by StudioKALEIDO ( http://www.studiokaleido.net )

See the rest of the pictures here: http://on.fb.me/IrjLpV

24 artists and 3 poets execute a contemporary exploration of Chinese culture; a play on the power of idiomatic suggestion.

Twisstii aka Minqi Li is an illustrator based in Singapore. She has been helping out in OIC since the beginning at our events or behind the scene. Its a joy to see her growing as an illustrator, getting more commissioned work and building up her folio.
